In 2013, Pingwang Town realized a GDP of over 10 billion yuan, an increase of 15.4% year-on-year; an industrial output value of 27 billion yuan, an increase of 12.5%; an investment of 6.6 billion yuan in fixed assets for the whole society, an increase of 23.1%; a public finance budget income of 556 million yuan, an increase of 11%; a total import and export volume of 405 million U.S. dollars; and a retail sales of 2.9 billion yuan of social consumer goods.
In October 2019, Pingwang Township was selected as one of the "Top 1,000 Towns of National Comprehensive Strength in 2019".
In July 2020, the National Sanitation Association recognized Pingwang Township as the 2019 National Sanitation Township.
