Gaochun District, a district of Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, is located in the south of Nanjing, at the junction of Jiangsu and Anhui, and is the southern gate of Nanjing. It borders Liyang City in the east, adjoins Langxi County, Xuanzhou District and Dangtu County in Anhui Province in the southeast, south and west, and neighbors Lishui District in the north. The total area is 790.23 square kilometers. As of 2023, there are 6 streets and 2 towns under the jurisdiction of the district, with a total of 116 village (neighborhood) committees. The People's Government of the district is located at 228 Zhenxing Road. As of the end of 2022, the district had a resident population of 437,100.
Gaochun District, named after the ancient town of Gaochun. Gaochun Town is the present-day Chunxi Town. In Qin, Liyang County was set up (with jurisdiction over present-day Lishui, Gaochun and Liyang). Sui analyzed Liyang and set up Lishui County. In 2013, Gaochun County was abolished and Gaochun District was established in Nanjing. Gaochun is surrounded by Gucheng Lake in the south and Shishu Lake in the north. Over the years, Gaochun has been adhering to the development concept of "ecological county" and focusing on the integration of water-friendly, natural and elegant landscapes into the city construction. The eastern part of the city is hilly, and the Forking Creek Ecological Journey area was awarded the title of the first "International Slow City" by the World Slow City Alliance, and Yuzi Mountain was created as a national forest park. The western part of Gaochun District is a watery landscape, known as the "Sacred Land of Jiangnan" and the "Land of Fish and Rice".
In 2022, Gaochun District will realize a gross regional product of 57.671 billion yuan, per capita disposable income of 53.785.88 yuan, and general public budget revenue of 3.880 billion yuan.
