Hechi City, abbreviated as "He", is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, located in the northern part of Guangxi, at the southern foot of the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, with a diverse topography, complex structure, and a subtropical monsoon climate in the northwest, high in the southeast and low in the southeast, and with a total area of 33,500 square kilometers. As of March 2022, the city has 2 districts and 9 counties under its jurisdiction. As of the end of 2022, the city had a resident population of 3,409,600.
On August 1, 1965, a total of 10 counties were set aside from Liuzhou Prefecture, Baise Prefecture and Nanning Prefecture to set up the Hechi District Commissioner's Office. Hechi is a famous old revolutionary area, the birthplace of the Guangxi peasant movement, the source of the Baise Uprising, the hinterland of the Right River Revolutionary Base Area, the place where Deng Xiaoping, Zhang Yunyi and other proletarian revolutionaries of the older generation fought and the hometown of the Red Seven Armies and the martyrs of Wei Bachun, who grew up the General Wei Guoqing and the other generals. Growing up Admiral Wei Guoqing and other 7 founding generals of the Republic; is China's silk capital, the scale of silkworms for 16 consecutive years ranked first in the country's municipalities, has developed into the country's largest cocoon city, Guangxi's largest cocoon production base of mulberry silk. Within the jurisdiction, there are three world-class ecological resources such as Pan Yang River Basin Longevity and Health Tourism Belt, Fengshan World Geopark, and Huanjiang Karst World Natural Heritage Site, among which Tian'e County within the Bama International Tourism Zone has a high forest coverage rate of more than 86%.
In 2022, the GDP of Hechi City was 113.554 billion yuan, up 3.9% year-on-year. By industry, the added value of primary industry was 26.008 billion yuan, up 5.7% year-on-year; the added value of secondary industry was 33.771 billion yuan, up 5.5% year-on-year; and the added value of tertiary industry was 53.775 billion yuan, up 2.2% year-on-year.
