Du'an Yao Autonomous County, belonging to Hechi City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, is located on the slope of the transition from the Yungui Plateau to the Guangxi Basin, on the eastern part of the Duyang Mountain Range, with the terrain high in the north-west and low in the south-east, and it is one of the most typical areas for the development of karst landforms in the country, and it is well-known for its strange peaks and holes and karst landscapes in the county. With a total area of 4,095 square kilometers, 10 towns and 9 townships under the jurisdiction of 248 villagers (community) committees, the county people's government is stationed in Anyang Township, which is 120 kilometers away from both Nanning City and Hechi City. Du'an County is one of the first counties in the "Revolutionary Cultural Relics Protection and Utilization Area".
On November 20, 2020, the People's Government of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region approved the withdrawal of Du'an County from the sequence of poverty-stricken counties.
