Huanjiang Maonan Autonomous County, belonging to Hechi City of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, is located at the southeast foot of Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau in northwest Guangxi, neighboring Rongshui Miao Autonomous County of Liuzhou City and Luocheng Mulao Autonomous County of the same Hechi City to the east, connecting to Yizhou and Jinchengjiang Districts to the south, Nandan County across Longjiang River in the west, and adjoining with Libo and Congjiang Counties of Guizhou to the north. It is about 331 kilometers away from Nanning, the capital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, about 340 kilometers away from Guilin, about 48 kilometers away from Jinchengjiang, and about 67 kilometers away from Yizhou. The total area of the county is 4,572 square kilometers, and as of 2022, Huanjiang County has 1 street, 6 towns, 5 townships, and 1 ethnic township. According to the seventh national census, as of 00:00 on November 1, 2020, the resident population of Huanjiang Maonan Autonomous County was 276,076 people.
On May 9, 2020, it was approved by the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region to withdraw from the sequence of poor counties.In January 2024, it was selected as a national model area for national unity and progress.
In 2022, Huanjiang's annual county-wide gross domestic product (GDP) was 8.594 billion yuan, up 4.9% from the previous year at constant prices.
