Yuankeng Town, belonging to Shunchang County, Nanping City, Fujian Province, is located in the southwestern part of Shunchang County, bordering Chenbu Village, Shuangxi Street in the east, Zhengfang Township in the south, Jiangle County in the west and Dagan Town in the north, with an administrative area of 171 square kilometers. As of the end of 2019, the registered population of Yuankeng Town is 15,523. During the Song Dynasty, it belonged to Jiaoxi Township of Jianpu County (present-day Yanping District).In October 1984, Yuankeng Commune was abolished and replaced by Yuankeng Township.In August 1992, Yuankeng Township was abolished and replaced by Yuankeng Township.
