The Lantian Economic Development Zone in Zhangzhou, Fujian, is the first provincial-level development zone in Zhangzhou. It was formerly known as the Zhangzhou Lantian Industrial Development Zone, which was established in June 1992 with the approval of the Fujian Provincial Government. In March 2006, with the approval of the Fujian Provincial Government, the zone was formed through the merger of the Lantian Industrial Zone and the Longwen Industrial Zone, and it falls under the jurisdiction of the Longwen District Government.
The Lantian Economic Development Zone has a total planned area of 10.19 square kilometers. Through development and construction in recent years, it has formed a “One Zone, Four Parks” development pattern (comprising the Lantian, Longwen, Chaoyang, and Guokeng parks), with a total planned area of 22.5 square kilometers and a developed area of 15 square kilometers.The development zone’s industrial layout focuses on light industry, low-energy-consumption, low-pollution, and high-tech sectors, with a priority on developing industries such as electronics and information technology, equipment manufacturing, food and beverages, and home and personal care products.
Located in the heart of Longwen District—the future administrative, economic, and cultural center of Zhangzhou City—the development zone boasts convenient transportation and well-developed infrastructure. It is home to seven national-level high-tech enterprises, two National Torch Science and Technology Projects, and two postdoctoral research stations. Five brands have been awarded China Well-Known Trademark status, and the zone boasts 40 provincial-level famous brands and well-known trademarks.
