Nanping, prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Fujian Province, a small city of type I, between longitude 117°00′-119°25′ East, latitude 26°30′-28°20′ North, is located in the north of Fujian Province, Wuyi Mountain range, the northern section of the southeast side, is located in the junction of Fujian, Zhejiang, Jiangxi provinces, commonly known as "Minbei ", northeast and Zhejiang Quzhou, Lishui neighboring, northwest and Jiangxi Fuzhou, Shangrao border, southeast and Fuzhou, Ningde junction, southwest and Sanming adjacent, with a total area of 26,300 square kilometers, is the largest city in Fujian Province. It now has two municipal districts, five counties and three county-level cities under its jurisdiction. As of the end of 2022, the registered population of Nanping was 3,136,800, and in 2020, the administrative center of the city was officially moved from Yanping District to Jianyang District.
Nanping city territory, pre-Qin when the land belonged to the Baiyue, in September 1994, the withdrawal of Nanping District set up prefecture-level Nanping City; is one of the earliest development of southern China, the territory has more than 4,000 years of history, is one of the birthplaces of Fujian culture. The name "Fujian" is derived from the first character of the ancient Jianzhou (now Jianou). It is the birthplace of Min Yue culture, Zhu Zi culture, Wuyi tea ceremony culture, Qitian Da Sheng culture and Zhang Sanfeng Taiji culture. Famous rationalist Zhu Xi in Nanping "qinshu fifty years", affecting China for more than 800 years, called "Min Bang Zulu" "Road South rational cave".
Nanping City is a national ecological demonstration area, the national green development demonstration area, the origin of the Min River, the ecological barrier in Fujian, one of the best ecological environment in the same latitude. The city is characterized by towering peaks, low mountains, river valleys and small mountain basins, with the typical "eight mountains and one water and one field" in southern China; it has more than 150 tourist resources such as Wuyi Mountain, one of the only four World Natural and Cultural Heritage Sites in the country. The city is also well served by the Hefei High Speed Railway, Yingxia Railway, and the Eagle-Huzhou Railway. The city is also served by Hefei High-speed Railway, Yingxia Railway, Waifu Railway, Hengnan Railway, National Highway 205 and National Highway 316, Wuyishan Airport, and the main stream of the Minjiang River and other air routes and waterways.
In 2023, Nanping City realizes a gross regional product of 227.00 billion yuan, an increase of 5.0% over 2022.
