Shunchang County, belonging to Nanping City, Fujian Province, is located in the northwestern part of Fujian Province, at the confluence of Jinxi and Futunxi in the upper reaches of Minjiang River. The geographical coordinates lie between longitude 117°30′~118°14′E and latitude 26°39′~27°12′N, with a mid-subtropical oceanic monsoon climate, and at the same time subject to certain influences of the continental climate, with a total area of 1,985 square kilometers. As of the end of 2022, Shunchang County had a total household population of 225,100. As of June 2023, Shunchang County has 1 street, 8 towns, and 3 townships under its jurisdiction, with the county people's government stationed at No. 50 Chengzhong Road on Shuangxi Street.
In the fourth year of Changxing of the Later Tang Dynasty (933), Shunchang County was established. In the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to Yanping Prefecture. In the 16th year of the Republic of China (1927), it belonged to Fujian Province, and in 1988, it belonged to Nanping District, and in January 1995, Nanping was abolished to set up a city, which belonged to Nanping City. Shunchang County has convenient transportation, with National Highway 316 and Provincial Highway 204 running through the north and south of Shunchang County, and Ningguang Expressway and Yingxia Railway running through the territory. Rich in tourism resources, there are scenic spots such as Baoshan Mountain, Huayang Mountain, Hepang Rock, Yuankeng Ancient Town, and a hundred monks' tomb complexes in the territory.
