Zhangping City, a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Fujian Province, administered by Longyan City, is located in the south-central part of Fujian Province and the eastern part of Longyan City, at the junction of the three major mountain ranges of Daiyun Mountain, Tortoise Turtle Mountain, and Boppingling Ridge, and has a subtropical monsoon climate, adjoining seven counties and districts (municipalities), and covering a total area of 2,956.24 square kilometers. As of October 2022, Zhangping City has 2 streets, 11 towns, and 3 townships under its jurisdiction. As of the end of 2022, Zhangping had a resident population of 251,000 people.
Zhangping, also known as "Jingcheng", the name of the meaning of "the euphony resides in the upstream of the Zhangshui River, in the middle of thousands of mountains, this place is only flat". Fourteen years of the Republic of China (1925), under the jurisdiction of Fujian Province; September 1978, Zhangping is still under the jurisdiction of Longyan District; in August 1990, approved by the State Council to withdraw the county and set up a city, Zhangping has become the ninth county-level city in Fujian Province; in November 1996, became a provincial municipality, administered by Longyan City.
The main attractions of Zhangping City include Jiupeng River Scenic Area, Xianghu Red Revolutionary Site Group, Alishan Scenic Area on the mainland, and Donghu Ancient Village.On July 15, 2021, Zhangping City was selected to be on the list of "the fourth batch of counties (districts) that have reached the standard of water-saving social construction".On February 16, 2022, Zhangping City was selected to be on the list of "2021 National Health Promotion Counties". On February 16, 2022, Zhangping City was selected to be on the list of "2021 National Health Promotion Counties (Districts)". on April 27, 2022, Zhangping City was selected to be on the list of "2022 National Modern Agricultural Industrial Park Creation".
In 2022, Zhangping City realized a gross domestic product (GDP) of 31.485 billion yuan, an increase of 3.6% over 2021.
