The Longyan Economic and Technological Development Zone was established in July 1998. In May 1999, it was approved by the provincial government as a provincial-level development zone, and in March 2012, it was upgraded to a national economic and technological development zone with the approval of the State Council.In July 2012, the Longyan High-Tech Industrial Development Zone was approved by the provincial government as a provincial-level high-tech zone, and in February 2015, it was upgraded to a national high-tech industrial development zone with the approval of the State Council. The Longyan Economic and Technological Development Zone (Longyan High-Tech Zone) operates under a “two-name, single-team” management structure and serves as a key economic growth pole and urban expansion area for Longyan City.The zone encompasses three sub-districts—Dongxiao, Gaobei, and Hongfang—covering a total area of 25.4 square kilometers. Focusing on three major sectors—"the new city on the southern wing of the central city," "a high-end industrial cluster," and "a modern logistics hub"—it is dedicated to becoming a demonstration zone for high-tech industries, an innovation zone for institutional mechanisms, a pilot zone for comprehensive urban functions, and a pioneer zone for military-civilian integration.
