Wangping Town, a town under the jurisdiction of Mentougou District, Beijing, is located in east longitude 115°53′02″~116°02′41″, north latitude 39°54′38″~40°01′45″. It is located in the central part of Mentougou District, bordering with Miaofengshan Town and Yongding Town in the northeast, Longquan Town and Tanzhe Temple Town in the south, bordering with Datai Street in the southwest, and connecting with Yanyi Town in the west. The town area is 45.92 square kilometers.
Before 1949, Wangping area belonged to the ninth district of Wanping County, Hebei Province.In 1949, it belonged to the twenty-eighth district of Beijing.In 1958, it belonged to Datai People's Commune.In 1963, Wangping Village Street was built.In 1981, it belonged to the Industrial and Agricultural District Office of Beijing Mining Bureau.In August 1994, Seshukumeng Township, Beiling Township, and Wangping Village Street were merged to form the Wangping Area.In October 2002, Wangping Township was established. As of late 2018, Wangping Township had a household population of 8,497. As of October 2019, Wangping Township has 4 communities and 16 administrative villages under its jurisdiction, and the township government is located at 18 East Wangping Street.
