Qingshui Township is subordinate to Mentougou District of Beijing, located between longitude 115°25′01″~115°41′27″ East and latitude 39°48′40″~40°04′41″ North. Located in the west of Mentougou District, it is the most remote township in the west of Beijing, adjoining with Zhaitang Township in the east, bordering with Shijiaying Township and Da'anshan Township in Fangshan District in the south, connecting with Laishui County of Baoding City in Hebei Province in the west, and bordering with Zhuolu County and Huailai County of Zhangjiakou City in Hebei Province in the north. The town area is 335.14 square kilometers.
In the early period of the establishment of new China, Qingshui area belongs to Beijing west mining area, governs 13 townships such as Shuangtangjian, Huangta, Tianji, Lijiazhuang, ShangQingshui, XiaQingshui, etc. In 1956, 13 townships were merged into 4 townships, namely, Qingshui, Huangta, Yanjiatai and QiJiaZhuang, and were merged into Zhaitang township in 1960, and was dissolved into 3 people's communes of Qingshui, Huangta and QiJiaZhuang in 1963 and was changed into 3 people's commune of Qingshui, Huangta and QiJiaZhuang in 1984 and became 3 townships of Qingshui. In 1994, the 3 townships were merged into Qingshui Township. As of late 2018, Qingshui Township had a household population of 11,444. As of October 2019, there are 32 administrative villages under the jurisdiction of Qingshui Township, with the township government residing in Qingshui Village, Qingshui Township.
In 2011, the total agricultural output value of Qingshui Town reached 230 million yuan, and the net income per capita of farmers was 7,033 yuan. The township's financial income was 1.194 million yuan, financial expenditure was 98.65 million yuan, and tax revenue was 10.09 million yuan.
