Jinzhong, a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Shanxi Province, is located in central Shanxi Province, with the Taihang Mountains to the east and the Fen River to the west, bordering the provincial capital Taiyuan in the north, Changzhi and Linfen in the south, Yangquan in the northeast, and Luliang in the southwest. As of December 2021, Jinzhong City has two municipal districts, eight counties, and one county-level city under its jurisdiction, with a total area of 16,400 square kilometers. As of the end of 2022, Jinzhong City had a resident population of 339,472.
