Xiyang County, belonging to Jinzhong City, Shanxi Province, is located in the eastern part of Jinzhong City and the western foot of Taihang Mountain, bordering Zanhuang County, Neiqiu County, Jingfu County and Xingtai City of Hebei Province in the east, neighboring Shouyang County in the west, adjoining Heshun County in the south and Pingding County in the north. It has a total area of 1,954 square kilometers. As of the end of 2022, Xiyang County had a resident population of 186,614.
During the Shang Dynasty, it belonged to Wei. At the end of Jian'an (219) of the Eastern Han Dynasty, it was Le Ping County, and was changed to Le Ping County in the early years of Sui Daye. In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), Leping County was restored to Zhonglu Dao.In 1968, Jinzhong Prefecture was reorganized into Jinzhong Region, to which Xiyang County still belongs. As of October 2021, Xiyang County is under the jurisdiction of 5 towns, 5 townships and 1 management committee. The county government is located at No. 10, Yuxin Lane, Leping Town. Local specialties of Xiyang County include Xiyang millet and apricot mushrooms. There are scenic spots such as Dazhai and Longyan Grand Canyon.
In 2023, the gross regional product of Xiyang County was 16.30 billion yuan, an increase of 5.1% from 2022.
