Guyang County, belonging to the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Baotou City, is located in the central and western part of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the northern foot of the Daqing Mountain. East and Hohhot Wuchuan County junction, south and Tuyue Banner and the suburbs of Baotou City adjacent to the west with the Bayannur City, Ulat Zhong Banner and Ulat Qian Banner border, north and Damao Banner connected to a total area of 5,025 square kilometers. As of June 2023, Guyang County has six towns under its jurisdiction. As of the end of 2022, the total household population of Guyang County was 194,100.
Guyang is a derivation of the ancient name of 稒yang (稒陽). The Chinese character "稒" means "firm, consolidate", and "陽" first refers to Xianyang, the capital of the Qin Dynasty, and then is quoted as the seat of the imperial power in the Central Plains; "稒阳" has the meaning of "firm, consolidate", and "稒yang" means "the town of the Qin Dynasty". The name "稒陽" has the meaning of "guarding the northern border and defending Xianyang". Goodyang County, the territory of the Great Wall of Qin and Han Dynasty stretched across the East and West, including the Northern Wei Dynasty, the first of the six towns of Huishuo town, including the border towns throughout the ages, the ancient garrison a lot. Because of guarding the northern end of the Shimen ancient road, since ancient times has been a military town in the south of the desert, is the medieval period of the central plains of the farming nation and the northern nomadic people must fight for the place; at the same time, it is also the central plains of the farming nation and the northern nomadic people exchanges and fusion of the place. Since the late Qing Dynasty, Guyang County by the history of nomadic pastoralists stationed in the pasture evolved into an immigrant town, the residents of the Jin, Shaanxi, Mongolia, Hebei provinces and regions, the rich Xikou culture retains the complete folklore of the Central Plains.
In 2022, Guyang County will realize a GDP of 9.511 billion yuan, of which the added value of the primary industry will be 1.877 billion yuan, the added value of the secondary industry will be 5.621 billion yuan, and the added value of the tertiary industry will be 2.013 billion yuan. The proportion of the added value of the three industries to the regional GDP is 19.7%, 59.1% and 21.2% respectively.
