Genhe City, county-level city under the jurisdiction of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, administered by Hulunbeier City, is located in the northeastern part of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, north of Hulunbeier City, one of the highest latitudes in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, located on the western slope of the northern section of the Daxing'anling Mountains, belonging to the cold-temperate zone with a humid forest climate, adjacent to five flags and districts (cities), with a total area of 20,010 square kilometers. As of October 2022, Genhe City has 4 streets, 4 towns and 1 ethnic township under its jurisdiction. As of the end of 2022, Genhe had 56,400 households and a total population of 120,942.
Genhe is a homonym of the Mongolian word "Gegen Gaole", meaning "clear and transparent river". in August 1961, the government of the Erguna Banner was moved to the town of Genhe; in April 1966, the State Council approved the abolition of the Erguna Banner, and the establishment of the Right Banner and the Left Banner, and the Left Banner and the Left Banner of Erguna. In April 1966, the State Council approved the abolition of Erguna Banner, set up Erguna Right Banner and Erguna Left Banner, Erguna Left Banner government located in the town of Genhe; in August 1969, Erguna Left Banner with Hulunbeier Union into Heilongjiang Province; in July 1979, Erguna Left Banner and the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region; in April 1994, the State Council approved the abolition of Erguna Left Banner, the establishment of the city of Genhe (county level).
The main attractions of Genhe City include Inner Mongolia Genheyuan National Wetland Park, Iksama National Forest Park, Ooluguya Deer Tribe Scenic Spot, and Khanma National Nature Reserve.On November 10, 2020, Genhe City was selected to be on the list of "2020 National Pilot Construction Counties (Municipalities and Districts) of Forest Recreation Bases". On November 25, 2020, Genhe City was selected as one of the "third batch of counties (districts) that reach the standard of water-saving society construction". on October 12, 2021, Genhe City was selected as one of the fifth batch of practice and innovation bases of "green water and green mountains are golden mountains and silver mountains".
In 2021, Genhe City will realize gross domestic product (GDP) of 3.492 billion yuan, an increase of 2.6% year-on-year; the ratio of added value of the primary, secondary and tertiary industries will be 14.9:24.9:60.2; fixed-asset investment will be 487 million yuan, an increase of 16.4% year-on-year; and the disposable income per capita of urban residents will be 30,963 yuan, an increase of 6.0% year-on-year.
