Xiaotang Township, belonging to Jianping County, Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province, is located in the south-central part of Jianping County, bordering Shamjing Township in the east, Qingfengshan Township in the south, Sanjia Mongolian Township in the west, and Baishan Township and Zhangjiayingzi Township in the north, with an area of 178.06 square kilometers and a household population of 18,943 as of 2018.
In the 29th year of Guangxu in Qing Dynasty (1903), Jianping County was set up, with its seat in Xinqiu (present-day Jianping Township), Xiaotang belonged to Xiaotang Township of Mongolia District, and a license was set up under the township.In October 1998, the township was abolished and set up as a township.In 2003, the township was merged with the village, with the original 13 villages merged into 10. As of June 2020, Xiaotang Township has 10 administrative villages under its jurisdiction.
