Gaizhou, a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Liaoning Province, administered by Yingkou City, is located in the northwest of Liaodong Peninsula, a terraced landscape with high east and low west, four distinct seasons, and plenty of sunshine, with a total area of 2,930 square kilometers. As of October 2022, the city has 8 streets, 16 towns, and 3 townships. As of the end of 2022, the city had a household population of 663,000 people. On November 3, 1992, Gai County was abolished and Gaizhou City (county level) was established. As early as the Han Dynasty, Gaizhou City was a major town in the Northeast where merchants and traders gathered. In the middle of the Qing Dynasty, it became the "thoroughfare of wealth and goods" in the Northeast; it is the birthplace of shadow play, Liaonan play and Liaonan stilt rice-planting song, and shadow art and Gaizhou rice-planting song have been recognized as national intangible cultural heritage; it is the nearest sea port in the Northeast. The Central-Long Electrified Railway, Harbin-Dalian Passenger Dedicated Line, Shen-Dalian Expressway, Gai-Zhuang Expressway, Harbin-Dalian Highway, Liaoning Coastal Road and Zhuanglin Road run through the whole territory, and Dalian Zhoushuizi Airport and Shenyang Taoxian Airport can be reached within one hour's drive from Gai-Zhou, and Yingkou Airport, which has already been put into operation, is adjacent to Gai-Zhou. There are tourist attractions such as Tuan Mountain, Chishan Mountain and Hot Spring Valley. In 2022, the GDP of Gaizhou City will realize 17.60 billion yuan, an increase of 0.2% over the previous year.
