Siem Reap (Pinyin: XianLi; English: SiemReap), is the capital of Siem Reap Province in Cambodia, 311 kilometers from Phnom Penh and only 152 kilometers from the Thai border, with a population of about 85,000. In recent years, Siem Reap has seen a rapid growth in tourism, thanks to the fact that it is the gateway to one of the Seven Wonders of the World, Angkor, and Siem Reap has been an important stopover to visit the Angkorian monuments for over a century.
The villages on the outskirts of Siem Reap are spread out in row houses and are connected to the city center. There we can find a wide range of hotels, hostels and restaurants of different grades, with a choice of Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese or Cambodian cuisine.
