Weirong Town, belonging to Jingning County, Pingliang City, Gansu Province, is located in the central part of Jingning County and the middle reaches of the Hulu River, bordering Zhaodun Township of Zhuanglang County in the east, Leidai Township in the south, Gangou and Shuanghan Townships in the west, and Chengchuan and Gucheng Townships in the north. The total area of the administrative region is 97 square kilometers, and as of the end of 2018, the household population of Weirong Town was 31,096.
Weirong Town was named after the Weirong Fort in the Northern Song Dynasty, taking the meaning of "deterring the Rong land". In the Northern Song Dynasty, the Weirong Fortress was placed.
