Lintai County, belonging to Pingliang City, Gansu Province, is located in the southeast edge of Pingliang City, belonging to the Loess Plateau Gully Area, between the Jinghe River and the Weihe River, with the terrain high in the northwest and low in the southeast. East of Chang'an, south of Qianlong, west of Guanshan, north of Jingshui, known as "Longdong dry dock", "Gansu East Gate" of the name. Historically, it is both the central regime of the north to resist foreign invasion of the defense of the victory of the key, but also Chang'an to Tibet, Europe, "Silk Road" is an important channel. As of 2019, the county has 9 townships, 4 townships, 5 neighborhood committees, 186 administrative villages, and 1,441 village groups. The administrative area is 1,976 square kilometers.In 2021, Lintai County had a total household population of 225,600 and a resident population of 153,400.On April 28, 2019, the People's Government of Gansu Province approved the withdrawal of Lintai County from the sequence of poverty-stricken counties.
Within the county, there is a loess plateau (Shizi Loess) and a mountain (southern mountainous area) and two rivers (Daxi River and Heihe River area), the whole territory is 78 kilometers long from east to west and 40 kilometers wide from north to south, with a total watershed area of 2,038 square kilometers, it is a traditional agricultural area in Longdong, and the main planting crops are wheat and corn. Small grains are cereals, millet, beans, buckwheat, etc., oil crops, including hemp, caraway, ebony seeds, rapeseed, etc., known as the "granary".
In 2021, the gross regional product of Lingtai County was 390.44 million yuan, calculated at constant prices, an increase of 9.6% over the previous year. Among them, the added value of primary industry is 140.161 million yuan, the added value of secondary industry is 356.64 million yuan; the added value of tertiary industry is 214.219 million yuan, and the ratio of the structure of the three industries is adjusted to 35.9﹕9.1﹕55.
