Yunfu City, prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Guangdong Province, is located in the central and western part of Guangdong Province, south of the middle reaches of the Xijiang River. It has a land area of 7,786.64 square kilometers (of which the urban area is 1,967.28 square kilometers), with two districts, two counties, and one county-level city under its jurisdiction. As of the end of 2022, Yunfu City had a resident population of 2,396,500 people.
During the pre-Qin period from the Spring and Autumn Period to the Qin and Han Dynasties, the territory of present-day Yunfu City was the land of Baiyue. During the North and South Dynasties, the city had successively set up three levels of prefectures, counties and counties. The golden waterway of the Xijiang River runs through the whole city, and Yunfu New Port is the No. 1 inland river port in Guangdong.
Yunfu City is one of the important polymetallic mineralization concentration areas in China, in which the reserves and grades of sulfurous iron ore rank first in the world, and it is known as the "sulfur capital". Yunfu is the largest sulfur chemical production base in China and the largest stainless steel tableware production base in Guangdong Province.
