Fuan City, a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Fujian Province, administered by Ningde City, is located in the northeastern part of Fujian Province and the central part of Ningde City, between the Wushu Mountain Range, the Taimu Mountain Range and the Donggong Mountain Range, with a mid-subtropical oceanic monsoon climate, adjacent to six districts and counties, with a total area of 1,880 square kilometers. As of the end of 2022, Fuan City had a resident population of 605,000 people. As of June 2023, Fuan City has 4 streets, 13 towns, and 5 townships under its jurisdiction, with the municipal people's government stationed at No. 16 Zhongxing West Road. The name of Fuan was given to the place by the royal authorization of Emperor Zhao Yun of the Song Dynasty, who said, "Give five blessings to the county of Fuan". In the pre-Qin period, the present Fu'an area was inhabited by the Min-Yue ethnic group, and "Yugong" was called Yangzhou land; in May of the 14th year of the Republic of China (1925), Fu'an County belonged to Fujian Province; in June of 1971, it belonged to the Ningde area; in November of 1989, Fu'an withdrew from the county and established a city; in 1993, it was listed as an open city along the coast by the State Council; in November of 1999, it was directly under the jurisdiction of Fujian Province; and in November of 2000, Fuan City was under the jurisdiction of Ningde City. In November 2000, Fuan City was placed under the administration of Ningde City. The main attractions of Fuan City include Fuan Baiyun Mountain, Lian Village, Muyun She Township Eco-tourism Zone, and Shifeng Temple.On February 18, 2021, Fuan City was selected as one of the "2020 National Advanced Counties of Village Cleaning Action".On September 1, 2021, Fuan City was selected as one of the "2021-2025 First Batch of National Science and Technology Development Programs". On Sep. 1, 2021, Fuan City was selected as one of the "2021-2025 First Batch of National Science Demonstration Counties (Cities and Districts)"; on Sep. 8, 2021, Fuan City was selected as one of the "Pilot List of Distributed Rooftop Photovoltaic Development in the Whole County (City and District)". In 2023, Fuan City's gross domestic product (GDP) amounted to 83.564 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 10.3%. Among them, the primary industry added value of 6.244 billion yuan, an increase of 3.0%; the secondary industry added value of 51.298 billion yuan, an increase of 12.1%; the tertiary industry added value of 26.022 billion yuan, an increase of 8.8%.
