Pingnan County, belongs to Ningde City, Fujian Province. It lies between 26°44′~27°10′ north latitude and 118°41′~119°13′ east longitude. It is connected with Ningde City in the southeast, Zhouning County in the northeast, Zhenghe County in the north, Jian'ou City in the northwest to the west, and Gutian County in the southwest to the south, with a width of 54 kilometers in the east and west, and a length of 50 kilometers in the north and south, and a total area of 1,487 square kilometers. 2022, the resident population of Pingnan County is 137,000 people, and the household population is 187,300 people.
Pingnan originally belonged to the territory of Gutian County. In the 13th year of Yongzheng in Qing Dynasty (1735), the county was founded by analyzing 13 capitals in Shifengli, Xinchangli and Hengxili in the northeastern part of Gutian County. The county seat, Shuangxi, was located in the south of Cuiping Mountain, so Emperor Yongzheng named it "Pingnan". After Pingnan County was established, it belonged to Fuzhou Prefecture, and in 1971, the former Fu'an Specialized Office was moved to Ningde, which was renamed Ningde District, and Pingnan County belonged to it. Pingnan County is one of the counties with "Red Flag Never Falls County", "Hometown of Mandarin Ducks", "Hometown of Summer Mushroom", "Hometown of Oil Crabapple", "Hometown of Hydroelectricity", "Hometown of Fujian", "Hometown of Hydropower", "Hometown of Fujian", "Hometown of Water and Electricity". It is also known as the "Hometown of Hydropower" in Fujian Province.
In 2022, the gross regional product of Pingnan County was 12.589 billion yuan, an increase of 17.3% over the previous year. Among them, the added value of primary industry is 1.742 billion yuan, the added value of secondary industry is 5.659 billion yuan; the added value of tertiary industry is 5.188 billion yuan, an increase of 1.6%.
