Fengping Township is an alpine township on the south bank of the Yangtze River, located in the southeastern part of Fengjie County. It borders Chang'an Township and Hefeng Township in the east, Wuma Township in the west, Xinmin Township in the north across the river, and the world-famous Tiankeng Diqiao Scenic Area in the south. The seat of the people's government of Fengping Township (Miaoba Village, Third Community) is 59 kilometers away from the county seat of Fengjie County, located in the heart of the high mountains, and is commonly known as Fengjiaba because of a flat dam. Fengping Township is located in the southeastern part of Fengjie County, 59 kilometers from the county seat. It is bordered by Chang'an Township and Hefeng Township in the east, Wuma Township in the west, Xinmin Township in the north across the river, and Tiankeng Dizhi Scenic Area in the south. It covers an area of 112.48 square kilometers and has a population of 21,000 (at the end of 2004), including more than 200 urban residents. It has 8 administrative villages: Miaoba, Shipan, Baifu, Shijiao, Longba, Zhongcun, Mingtang and Nanjin. With an altitude of 200 meters to more than 1,800 meters, the three-dimensional climate is relatively obvious. Daxi (Jiupan) River flows through the township for more than 30 kilometers. The county highway Yong (an) Ming (tang) highway crosses the township.
