Guocun Township is the "East Gate" of Yangzhou Jiangdu District, neighboring Hailing District of Taizhou City. In 2005, GuoCun Township was relocated to the south side of ZhouLou section of 328 National Highway, which is convenient for transportation, in the administrative division adjustment of JiangDu District. The town has a population of 87,000, an area of 104.6 square kilometers, 23 administrative villages and 2 neighborhood committees. Guocun is a famous old revolutionary area in Central and North Jiangsu Province, where the Battle of Guocun, the prelude to the eastward advancement that laid the foundation for the decisive battle of Huangqiao in 1940, took place, and where the Jiangdu County People's Government, the first anti-Japanese democratic regime in Central and North Jiangsu Province, was also established. Party and state leaders Chen Yi, Suyu, Ye Fei, Ji Pengfei, etc. all left their footprints here. In the territory, there are the Memorial Hall of Revolutionary Martyrs of Guochun Defense Battle, the former site of the Political Department, Yu's Sisters' Building, Sanniang's Well and other revolutionary historical relics and well-preserved humanistic attractions.
