Kaizhou District is part of Chongqing Municipality, located in the northeastern part of Chongqing Municipality, the Three Gorges Reservoir area of the Xiaojiang River tributary back to the end of the water, between latitude 30°49′30″-31°41′30″, longitude 107°55′48″-108°54′ between the west of Dazhou City, Sichuan Province, Kaifang County, north of the Dabashan Mountains to receive the Chengkou County and the Dazhou City of Sichuan Province, Xuanhan County, east of Yanyang County and Wuxi County, the Yangtze River south of the neighboring Wanzhou District. Kaizhou District covers an area of 3963.52 square kilometers, jurisdiction over 27 towns, 8 streets, 5 townships. 2022 the end of Kaizhou District, the total household population of 1,660,300 people, the resident population of 1,199,500 people.
Kaizhou has a long history, with a far-reaching origin. The county was founded in 21 years of Jian'an of the Eastern Han Dynasty (216 AD), and was first named Kaizhou in the first year of Wude of the Tang Dynasty (618 AD), and in July 2016, the county was abolished and set up as a district. Kaizhou is rich in natural resources and outstanding people. It is known as "Golden Kaixian", "the hometown of the scholar" and "the hometown of handsome". This area of water and soil had raised Li Zongxi, governor of the two rivers during the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty, the "bus on the book" Kaixian six lifts, 14 Red Rock martyrs, especially the People's Republic of China Marshal Liu Bocheng.
In 2011, it was listed by Chongqing Municipal Government as "Pilot Industrial Park for People's Livelihood" and was honored as "Excellent Park in Northeast Chongqing". It has been honored as "2013 China's Small Leisure City", "National Advanced Unit of Grain Production", "National Model City (County) of Double Embrace" and other honors.
In 2023, the GDP of Kaizhou District will be RMB 68.691 billion, an increase of 6.7% over the previous year at comparable prices, of which the primary industry will realize an added value of RMB 9.531 billion, an increase of 4.6%; the secondary industry will realize an added value of RMB 26.333 billion, an increase of 7.7%; and the tertiary industry will realize an added value of RMB 32.827 billion, an increase of 6.5%.
