Tacheng Region, region under the jurisdiction of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (XUAR), governed by the Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture, is located in northwestern Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, central Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture, and spans the northwestern part of the Junggar Basin and the mountainous regions to the west, with a border of 540.6 kilometers (km) in length, accounting for roughly one-tenth of Xinjiang's land boundary, and covering a total area of 105,000 square kilometers (km2). As of March 2023, the region has three county-level cities, three counties and one autonomous county under its jurisdiction. As of the end of 2021, the region had a resident population of 1.11 million.
Tacheng region is an important pivot of the core area of the Silk Road Economic Belt construction in Xinjiang, Baktu Port has been an important channel for opening to the outside world and communication since ancient times, and is one of the 17 national Class I land ports in the whole territory, 12 kilometers away from Tacheng City, 560 kilometers away from the city of Urumqi, and only 800 meters away from the neighboring Bakt Port in Kazakhstan, which is the closest land port to the city in Xinjiang with the best conditions for business. The natural landscape is marvelous and unique, and there are many scenic spots, such as the Red Building Museum, Tacheng Accordion Culture Exhibition Hall, Baktu Port, etc. Within the territory, there are S101 "Tianshan Geographic Gallery", G217 "China's most beautiful" highway - Dukou Highway, G219 G219 "Thousand Mile Gallery, Border Style" three tourism boutique hotline.
In 2022, the gross regional product of Tacheng will be 87.747 billion yuan, an increase of 5.2% over the previous year.
