Hedong District, belonging to Tianjin Municipality, is one of the central urban areas of Tianjin, located in the eastern part of the central urban area of Tianjin, on the east bank of the Haihe River. It is adjacent to Heping District and Hexi District across the Haihe River, accompanied by Dongli District to the east, and intersected with Hebei District to the west and north. The topography of Hedong District gradually decreases from northwest to southeast, and the terrain is relatively low-lying where the southern edge meets the Haihe River. There are Haihe River, Yueya River and North Sewage River crossing. As of October 2022, Hedong District has 13 streets under its jurisdiction, with the district's people's government stationed at No. 32 South Taixing Road. Hedong District, named after its location east of the Haihe River, was renamed Hedong District in 1955. Dazhigu is the earliest settlement in the urban area of Tianjin. The secondary industry amounted to RMB 2.627 billion, accounting for 6.55% of the total GDP of the district; the tertiary industry amounted to RMB 37.466 billion, accounting for 93.45% of the total GDP.
