Shangluo City, also known as Hecheng, Shangluo, Shangzhou, prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Shaanxi Province, is located in southeastern Shaanxi Province, the southern foot of the Qinling Mountains, the junction of Ezhou and Henan Provinces, east of Henan Province, Lingbao, Lushi, Xixia, XiChuan border; south of Shiyan, Hubei Province, Shiyan City, Utilitarian District, Utilitarian County, neighboring; west and southwest of Ankang City, Shaanxi Province, Hambin District, Ningxiaan County, Xunyang City and Chang'an District of Xi'an City, Lantian County, and the north of the Weinan City, Tongguan, Huayin and Huazhou districts of Weinan City, with a total area of 19,292 square kilometers, accounting for 9.36% of the total area of Shaanxi Province. As of October 2022, Shangluo City has one municipal district and six counties under its jurisdiction. As of the end of 2022, the resident population of Shangluo City was 2,206,600 people.
The Shangluo area has a long history. According to archaeological discoveries, there were pioneer activities here as early as the Paleolithic period more than a million years ago. According to the Records of the Grand Historian (史记-Yin本纪), Qi Chang, who had been successful in ruling the water with Yu, was sealed in Shang, which is the name of the country. The "Bracket" cloud: Shangluo County, eighty miles east of Shangzhou, the ancient country of Shang. The "water classic" said: Dan water from the Shangluo through the Shang County South, Chee began to seal this. Shangluo because of the territory of Shangshan, Luo water and named, began to be named in the Han Dynasty, refers to the upper Luo (County) and Shang (County) of the territory together. Famous monuments in Shangluo include the 5A-level scenic spot Jinshi Grand Canyon, as well as the Niubieliang National Forest Park, Zhashui Cave, Erlang Temple, Fengyang Pagoda, Dayun Temple, Tianzhushan Mountain, and Moon Cave, etc. The city is also home to a number of other famous tourist attractions. Since 2010, the annual China Qinling Eco-tourism Festival has been held in Shangluo City.
In 2022, Shangluo City will realize a gross regional product of 90.256 billion yuan, of which the added value of the primary industry will be 12.577 billion yuan, the added value of the secondary industry will be 35.955 billion yuan, and the added value of the tertiary industry will be 41.724 billion yuan. The per capita GDP was 44,599 yuan.
