Waigang Town, belonging to Jiading District of Shanghai, is located in the northwest of Jiading District, connected with the under-construction Jiading New City in the east, Anting International Auto City in the south, and Kunshan City and Taicang City in Jiangsu Province in the west and north. The town has a total area of 50.91 square kilometers, with 19 administrative villages and 2 communities, and a resident population of about 84,000, including a household population of 31,000 (2014).In 2014, the town completed a tax revenue of 2.508 billion yuan; and realized a town-level local financial revenue of 598 million yuan. There are many monuments in the township, such as Wuxing Temple, Yakushi Temple, Waigang Guerrilla Memorial Hall and Qian Family Ancestral Hall.
