Yantan Town was founded in 1953, is located in the southern gate of Zigong City, is the hometown of the martyr Lu Deming, commander-in-chief of the Autumn Harvest Uprising, is the millennium salt capital - one of the four urban areas of Zigong City. North and Daan District border, covering an area of 27.69 square kilometers. The outline of the district is a full triangular shape, the landform is mainly hilly, the terrain is high in the northwest and low in the southeast, with an average elevation of 300-400 meters. It is a gently sloping low hill and gently sloping medium hill landform type, with no molded mountains and a large area suitable for cultivation. On August 31, 2019, the People's Government of Sichuan Province on the approval of Zigong City to adjust the administrative division of some townships: the administrative area belonging to Tianpu Village, Wangba Village, Hongwan Village, Yongfa Village, Ping'an Village and Honggou Community of Washizhen Township was assigned to the jurisdiction of Yantan Township, and the People's Government of Yantan Township was stationed at No. 26, Plaza Road. On July 29, 2020, the National Society for Health Care decided to name Yantan Township as the National Health Township for the 2017-2019 cycle.
