Pengnan Township, belonging to Pengxi County, Suining City, Sichuan Province, is located in the southeastern part of Pengxi County, east of Datong Township, Wusheng County, south of Qunli Township and Xinhua Township, Tongnan County, west of Sanfeng Township, and north of Nongxing Township and Anfu Township and Datong Township, Jialing District. The area is 81.55 square kilometers, with a household population of 60,999 as of the end of 2018.
During the reign of Qing Xianfeng, Pengnan field was set up. In the Republic of China, the field was changed to a township.In 1951, Pengnan District was set up, then the district was changed to a township.In 1985, the township was changed to a township.In August 2019, Nongxing Township was abolished, and the administrative area it belonged to was transferred to the jurisdiction of Pengnan Township. As of June 2020, Pengnan Township has 5 communities and 26 administrative villages under its jurisdiction.
