Chaotian District, belonging to Guangyuan City, Sichuan Province, is located in the northeastern part of Sichuan Province, north of Guangyuan City, the upper reaches of the Jialing River, the border zone between Sichuan, Shaanxi and Gansu provinces, between the longitude of 105 ° 35 ′ ~ 106 ° 17 ′, latitude of 32 ° 31 ′ ~ 32 ° 51 ′ between subtropical wet monsoon climate, a total area of 1,613 square kilometers. As of the end of 2022, Chaotian District had a household population of 198,665. As of June 2023, Chaotian District has 10 towns and 2 townships under its jurisdiction, with the district's people's government stationed at 117 Government Road in Chaotian Township. Chaotian District is said to have been named after Emperor Xuanzong's visit to Shu during the Tianbao period of the Tang Dynasty, when all the officials were here to receive the Emperor. It is one of the important birthplaces of Ba Shu civilization, with the fine stoneware site of Zhong Zi Pu about 7,000 years ago, and the ancient trestle site of Ming Yue Gorge about 2,300 years ago, which is the centralized exhibition place of Chinese trestle culture and the core corridor of Chinese Shudao culture and Three Kingdoms Shu-Han culture, and the core area of Jianmen Shudao on the reserve list of the world's natural and cultural heritages. It is also the core area of Jianmen Shudao, a World Natural and Cultural Heritage reserve list. There is the national intangible cultural heritage "Maliu embroidery", which is the hometown of Chinese folk culture and art. There are four national AAAA-level tourist attractions, namely Mingyue Gorge, Zengjia Mountain, Longmen Pavilion and Shuimo Gou, which are regarded as the health base in western China, and Zengjia Mountain is selected as one of the top ten famous mountains for summer vacation in China. On April 28, 2019, the People's Government of Sichuan Province decided that Chaotian District exited the sequence of poverty-stricken counties.In 2022, Chaotian District realized a GDP of 8,250,560,000 yuan, a year-on-year growth of 2.3% at comparable prices.
