Dayi County, belonging to the city of Chengdu, Sichuan Province, is located in the transition zone from the Chengdu Plain to the Northwest Sichuan Plateau, bordering the Qionglai Mountains. It borders Chongzhou City in the east, Xinjin District in the southeast, Qionglai City in the southwest, Lushan County and Baoxing County in Ya'an City in the west, and Wenchuan County in Aba Prefecture in the north, and belongs to the subtropical humid monsoon climate zone, with a total area of 1,284 square kilometers. As of October 2022, Dayi County has 3 streets and 8 towns under its jurisdiction, and the People's Government of Dayi County is located at No. 66, Taoyuan Avenue, Jinyuan Street. As of the end of 2022, Dayi County had a resident population of 510,200.
Dayi County has a long history. As early as the Neolithic Age, there were human activities in the territory of present-day Dayi County. In the second year of Emperor Xianheng of the Tang Dynasty (671), Dayi County was established. Taiping Huan Yu Ji recorded: "The county was located in the east of Heming Mountain, and the vastness of its euphony gave it its name." In May 1983, the establishment of Wenjiang District was abolished, and Dayi County was transferred to the jurisdiction of Chengdu City.
Dayi County is rich in tourism resources and is a famous county for Tianfu tourism in Sichuan Province; Xiling Snow Mountain is the core habitat of giant pandas in Sichuan, China, which is a World Natural Heritage site. There are six national 4A-level tourist attractions, namely Xiling Snow Mountain, Huashuiwan, Liu's Manor Museum, Jianchuan Museum, Xinchang Ancient Town and Tianfu Huaxi Valley. There are 3 national cultural relics protection units, namely Liu's Manor Museum, Gaoshan Ancient City Ruins and Chuan Wang Palace.
In 2022, Dayi County realized a gross domestic product (GDP) of 32.988 billion yuan, an increase of 3.4% over the previous year.
