Shangdu County, a county under the jurisdiction of Ulanqab, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, is located in the central part of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and the northeastern part of Ulanqab, on the Inner Mongolia Plateau, with a mid-temperate continental monsoon climate, and adjoining eight flags and counties, with a total area of 4,383.49 square kilometers. As of October 2022, Shangdu County has 6 towns and 4 townships under its jurisdiction. According to the seventh census data, as of 00:00 on November 1, 2020, the resident population of Shangdu County was 173,926 people.
Fourteen years of the Republic of China (1925), "Shangdu County things" recorded: "Shangdu", Manchu "water whirlpool" also, in order to inject into the water of Chakhannuoer, clear and turbulent, swirling back into the pattern, so the Mongolians that is, in Manchu, Shangdu said. October 1, 1949, the People's Republic of China was established, the People's Republic of China. After the establishment of the People's Republic of China, Shangdu County under the Chahar Provincial People's Government; in November 1952, changed to Hebei Province, Zhangjiakou Prefecture; March 7, 1962, approved by the State Council, Hebei Province, Shangdu County to the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of Ulaanchab League jurisdiction; in August 2004, the Ulaanchab League was renamed the city of Ulaanchab, Shangdu County is subordinate to the jurisdiction of the city of Ulaanchab.
The main attractions of Shangdu County include the Frozen Ecotourism Scenic Area, Shangdu County Water Swirl Park, and Xianghe Square, etc. In November 2019, Shangdu County was selected for the "Second Batch of National Agricultural Product Quality Safety Counties (Municipalities) List".On December 27, 2022, Shangdu County was selected for the "Second Batch of National Scientific and Technological Safety Counties (Municipalities) List for the Years 2021-2025". On Dec. 27, 2022, Shangdu County was selected as one of the "2021-2025 Second Batch of National Science Popularization Demonstration Counties (Cities and Districts)"; on Jan. 29, 2023, Shangdu County was selected as one of the "Sixth List of Civilized Cities in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region".
In 2022, Shangdu County will realize gross domestic product (GDP) of 6.87 billion yuan, a year-on-year growth of 6%; fixed asset investment of 2.1 billion yuan, a year-on-year growth of 17.8%; general public budget revenue of 250 million yuan, a year-on-year growth of 4.2%; disposable income per capita of urban and rural residents will reach 36,378 yuan and 15,037 yuan, a year-on-year growth of 8% and 9% respectively.
