Hailasu town, belonging to the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Chifeng City, Wengnute Banner, is located in the northeast of Wengnute Banner, east of Baiyintala Sumu, south of Ashkhan Sumu, west of Udan Town, north of Bahrain Right Banner, Xilamuru Sumu across the river. The administrative area of Hailasu town is 656.21 square kilometers.At the end of 2018, the household population of Hailasu town was 16,874.
The village was founded during the Kangxi period (1662~1722) of the Qing Dynasty. During the Qianlong period (1736~1795), the second largest temple was built in Wengniuet Banner.In 1954, the seventh district of the flag was moved to Hailasu.In 1956, Hailasu Soum was built.In 1984, it was changed to Hailasu Town.In 2005, Gerishin Soum was merged into Hailasu Town.In June 2020, Hailasu Town governed one administrative village and four gachas.
