Yingkou City, prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Liaoning Province, Liaoning coastal economic zone, an important port city, located in the southern part of Northeast China, the center of Liaodong Peninsula, the east coast of the Bohai Sea, the Daliao River at the mouth of the sea. With a total area of 5,427 square kilometers, at the end of 2022, Yingkou had a resident population of 2,286,000 people. As of July 2022, Yingkou has four municipal districts under its jurisdiction and two county-level cities under its administration, with the municipal government stationed at No. 1 East Xinlian Street in the west downtown area.
Yingkou is one of the birthplaces of human civilization, and the Jinyushan Ancient Human Ruins, dating back about 280,000 years, witnessed the earliest civilization in the Liaohe River Basin. Yingkou is the only city in mainland China where you can watch the sun set over the sea. Yingkou is also the first foreign port in Northeast China in modern history, one of the birthplaces and issuers of the Great Dragon stamps, the birthplace of the Chinese Red Cross movement, and the birthplace of China's national financial industry. Yingkou is China's excellent tourist city, a national forest city, and one of China's four major musical instrument production bases. Major attractions in Yingkou include Beihai National Marine Park, Liaohe Old Street, Moon Lake Park, Jinniu Mountain Ruins, West Battery Ruins, and Wang'er Mountain Tourist Area.
In July 2019, Yingkou was awarded the title of "China's (Regional) Most Valuable City for Investment and Doing Business", and in October 2020, it was honored as the National Model City of Double Embrace, and in December 2022, it was honored as China's Happiest City.
In 2022, Yingkou's gross regional product was 143.16 billion yuan, down 2.3% from the previous year. The annual per capita GDP was 62,269 yuan, down 1.4% from the previous year.
