Zhangshu City, also known as Medicine Capital and Qingjiang, is a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Jiangxi Province, administered by Yichun City, located in the central part of Jiangxi Province, at the southern edge of the Poyang Lake Plain, spanning both sides of the middle reaches of the Ganjiang River, and lies between longitude 115°06′33″ and 115°42′23″ east and latitude 27°49′07″ and 28°09′15″ north, with a total area of 1,290.99 square kilometers. Zhangshu City has a mid-subtropical monsoon climate, characterized by a temperate climate, four distinct seasons, a short frost period, and plenty of sunshine. As of November 2022, Zhangshu City has 4 townships, 10 towns, 5 streets, and 1 horticultural farm, with the municipal government stationed at Kamyang Street. As of the end of 2021, Zhangshu City had a household population of 602,088, a decrease of 2,506 from the previous year. In the twenty-sixth year of Emperor Qin Shi Huang (221 years ago), Xinjian County was established, and was ruled in Kamyang (now Zhangshu City). Five Dynasties South Tang Sheng Yuan two years (938), set aside the area north of Xinjian County, another allocation of Xinjian County, Chongxue Township and Gao'an County, Jian'an Township, Xiude Township in Xiaotan Town (Song renamed Linjiang Township) to build the Qingjiang County (Yuan Gan, two water confluence Xiaotan, the river is clear, the name of the county by the water).October 26, 1988, the abolition of the Qingjiang County, the establishment of the city of Zhangshu. Since ancient times, Zhangshu City has been known as "the main thoroughfare of eight provinces and the downtown of commerce and industry in Gan", with the Zhegan Railway running through the city, the Beijing-Kowloon Railway and National Highway 105 running through the north and south, the Guangdong-Guangdong Highway and the Hu-Rui Highway running through the east and west, and the port of Zhangshu and the ports of Nanchang and Jiujiang known as the three major ports of the Ganjiang River. There are more than 1,000 cultural relics protection sites such as tombs, ancient buildings, stone carvings and inscriptions in Zhangshu.In December 2016, it was listed as the third batch of national comprehensive pilot areas for new urbanization.In 2019, it was listed as a demonstration county (district) for the National Intellectual Property Rights Strong County Project. In 2022, Zhangshu City realized a gross regional product of 53.695 billion yuan, an increase of 5.2% over 2021.
