The Yichun Economic and Technological Development Zone was established in 2003 and was upgraded to a national-level economic and technological development zone in 2013.Located in the northern part of Yichun’s central urban area, the zone has a planned area of 65 square kilometers, with 35 square kilometers already developed. The zone focuses on “lithium-based new energy, biopharmaceuticals, and electromechanical equipment” as its leading industries. In particular, the lithium-based new energy sector has established a complete closed-loop industrial chain spanning lithium mining and beneficiation, lithium carbonate smelting, anode and cathode materials, separators, and electrolytes, all the way through to battery manufacturing and recycling. It is hailed as the core hub of the “Lithium Capital of Asia.”
