Xishan District is located in the hinterland of the Yangtze River Delta, the southeast of Jiangsu Province, the east of Wuxi City, with the jurisdiction of the national Xishan Economic and Technological Development Zone, Wuxi Xidong New City and four towns (Yangtian, Goose Lake, Xibei, Donggang), five streets (Dongting, Anzhen, Dongtang, Yunlin, Houqiao). Shanghai-Nanjing, Beijing-Shanghai and Xitong Expressways intersect in the district, Beijing-Shanghai High Speed Railway Wuxi East Station is located in the center of the area, and Wuxi Metro Line 2 goes straight to the hinterland of the district.
At the end of 2022, Xishan District will have 165,500 households, a total population of 510,006 and a resident population of 885,700. The district government is located at No.1, Xizhou Middle Road.
In 2022, the gross regional product of Xishan District will be 121.199 billion yuan, with a growth of 3.5% at comparable prices. Among them: the added value of primary industry is 1.698 billion yuan, the added value of secondary industry is 63.42 billion yuan; the added value of tertiary industry is 56.081 billion yuan, and the structure of the three industries is 1.4:52.3:46.3.
In 2023, Xishan District realized a gross domestic product (GDP) of 125.986 billion yuan, a year-on-year growth of 6.3% at comparable prices.
