Pukou District is located in the northwest of Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, is one of the eight districts of the main city of Nanjing, an important national pharmaceutical base, science and education base and advanced manufacturing base, the Yangtze River Delta region to the inland hinterland of the radiation of the western bridgehead, is a modernized riverfront district with integrated circuit industry, high-end transportation equipment industry, culture, tourism and health industry as the leading industrial system, and Liouhe District, which constitutes the new district of Jiangbei, Nanjing.
The establishment of Pukou District began in 1933, from the eighth district of the Republic of China, because Pukou City (Puzikou City) is located in the territory, so the name Pukou District. The history of Pukou District can be traced back to the "Hemudu Era", with a civilization history of more than 7,000 years, giving birth to a diverse and unique local culture. After the Ming Emperor set his capital at Nanjing, he considered Pukou to be "a stronghold against the north and south, and a stronghold over the river and Huaihuai", so he built the city of Pukou, which was set up as a commercial port in 1912, and the Jinpu Railway from Tianjin to Pukou, Nanjing, was officially opened to the public in 1914, and the Pukou Railway Station became the national railroad transportation hub at that time.
