Jiangdu District, belonging to Yangzhou City, Jiangsu Province, is located in the central part of Jiangsu Province, connecting Gaogang District, Hailing District and Jiangyan District of Taizhou City in the east, bordering the Yangtze River in the south, Guangling District of Yangzhou City in the west, and connecting Gaoyou City and Xinghua City in the north. The district has a total area of 1332.54 square kilometers, under the jurisdiction of 13 towns, 65 communities, 263 administrative villages.At the end of 2022, the resident population of Jiangdu District was 928,700 people, and the urbanization rate of the resident population was 62.1%.
Jiangdu was called Longchuan in ancient times, named because "the water of Jianghuai converges here". Jiangdu County was built in the fourth year of the reign of Emperor Jingdi of the Western Han Dynasty (153 years ago); in July 1994, Jiangdu County was abolished and Jiangdu City was built; in November 2011, Jiangdu City was abolished at the county level and Jiangdu District of Yangzhou City was established. In the territory of Jiangdu District, there are Beijing-Shanghai Expressway, Shanghai-Shaanxi Expressway, Qiyang Expressway, Ningqi Railway and Lianhuaiyangzhen Railway running through the district.
In 2022, Jiangdu District realized a gross regional product of 125.602 billion yuan, with a growth of 3.1% at comparable prices. Among them, the added value of primary industry will be 7.707 billion yuan, with an increase of 2.4%; the added value of secondary industry will be 64.993 billion yuan, with an increase of 3%; and the added value of tertiary industry will be 52.902 billion yuan, with an increase of 3.1%.
