Gulou District, belongs to Xuzhou City, Jiangsu Province. It is located in the northern half of Xuzhou City, Jiangsu Province, with an administrative area of 80.8 square kilometers. According to the seventh census data, as of 00:00 on November 1, 2020, the resident population of Gulou District was 425,143 people.
Gulou District, founded in 1938 and originally known as Xuzhou First District, is the oldest urban area in Xuzhou.In 1955, it was renamed Gulou District due to the presence of the Gulou Tower, a Ming Dynasty building. Gulou District is located in the center of Xuzhou city in the south, the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal in the north, the Beijing-Shanghai Railway in the east, and the Quanshan District in the west. There are many historical sites and cultural attractions in the district, such as the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, the Han Tomb at Turtle Mountain, the Han City of Xuzhou, the Old Yellow River Road, the JiuLiShan Ancient Battlefield, the Ancient Underground City of Pengcheng, the PaiLou of the "Five Provincial Thoroughfares", the HuangLou, the Iron Bull of the ZhenHe River and so on, and the district is characterized by a long history and culture.
