Established in July 1992, the Xuzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone was upgraded to a national-level economic and technological development zone in March 2010. Covering an area of 293.6 square kilometers, it possesses provincial-level approval authority. The Xuzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone serves as Xuzhou’s vanguard for opening up to the outside world, a model zone for industrial upgrading, a dynamic hub for innovation and entrepreneurship, and a new eco-friendly and livable urban area.By 2015, the developed area of the zone had exceeded 100 square kilometers, with the establishment of specialized parks such as the Equipment Manufacturing Industrial Park, the Photovoltaic Industrial Park, and the Clean Technology Industrial Park.
The Xuzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone is a National Demonstration Base for New Industrialization in Equipment Manufacturing, a National Torch Program Specialized Industrial Base for Construction Machinery and New Energy, a National Ecological Industrial Demonstration Park, a China Low-Carbon Pioneer Park, a National Intellectual Property Pilot Park, a National Pilot for Strategic Emerging Industry Cluster Management, a Demonstration Base for Overseas Talent Entrepreneurship in China, and a National High-Quality Brand Demonstration Zone.
