Gulou District, belonging to Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, is located in the northwest of Nanjing, with a total area of 54.18 square, is the center of Nanjing, Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee, the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress, the provincial government, the seat of the provincial CPPCC organs. It is adjacent to Xuanwu and Qixia districts in the east; bordered by Qinhuai and Jianye districts in the south; and Pukou district in the west and north, bounded by the Yangtze River. As of 2023, it has 13 streets and 120 neighborhoods. The People's Government of the district is located at Shanxi Road.124 As of the end of 2022, the district had a resident population of 942,000 people.
Gulou District has a long history and is one of the earlier areas of Nanjing urban development, with a number of primitive villages existing 5,000 to 6,000 years ago. In the thirty-sixth year of King Xian of Zhou (333 years ago), King Xiong Shang of Chu set up Jinling Eup in Stone Mountain, which was the first administrative establishment of Gulou District and the beginning of the urbanization of Nanjing. In 2022, Gulou District will realize a GDP of 195.394 billion yuan, a per capita GDP of 207,447 yuan, and a general public budget revenue of 17.418 billion yuan.
