Wujin District, belonging to Changzhou City, Jiangsu Province, is located in the south of Jiangsu Province, Changzhou City, east of Changzhou City, within the embrace of Changzhou City, east of Wuxi City, Binhu District, Jiangyin City, south of Yixing City adjacent to and on the verge of Taihu Lake, west of Jintan District, Danyang City, a total area of 1,066 square kilometers. Wujin District is located in the northern edge of the subtropical, the formation of the basic landforms of erosion and lakes within the territory, the overall topography was high in the southwest and low in the north-east. Wujin District is one of the birthplaces of Wu culture, which has given birth to 19 emperors, 9 scholars and 1,546 jinshi, the most in any county in the country. As of 2021, Wujin District (including Jingkai District) has a resident population of 1,177,200 people.
During the Spring and Autumn and Warring States Periods, Wujin was called Yanling Eup, a fiefdom of Ji Zha of Wu. Sun Quan, the great emperor of Wu, respected martial arts, and took the unification of the great cause as his own responsibility, and in the third year of Jiahe (234 years), he ordered to restore Dantu as Wujin, taking the meaning of martial arts and advancement, hence the name. In the second year of Taikang of the Western Jin Dynasty (281), Emperor Wu of the Jin Dynasty restored the old name of Dantu and divided the area east of Dantu and Qu'a to set up Wujin County.In June 1995, Wujin was abolished as a county and set up as a city.In April 2002, Wujin was abolished as a city and set up as a district.On April 28, 2015, Wujin District of Changzhou and Qishuyan District were abolished, and a new Wujin District was set up. As of the end of 2022, Wujin District has 5 streets and 11 towns under its jurisdiction, with another 7 functional areas, and the district people's government is stationed at No. 30, Yanzheng Middle Road, Hutang Town.
In 2022, Wujin District realized a gross regional product of 310.197 billion yuan, an increase of 1.4% over the previous year at constant prices. Among them, the added value of primary industry is 4.118 billion yuan, an increase of 3.2%; the added value of secondary industry is 168.579 billion yuan, an increase of 1.2%; the added value of tertiary industry is 137.500 billion yuan, an increase of 1.6%.
