Jingyu County, belonging to Baishan City, Jilin Province, is located in the southeastern part of Jilin Province, the northern part of Baishan City, the western foothills of Changbai Mountain, and the left bank of the upper reaches of Songhua River. The geographic coordinates are located between 126°30′~127°16′ east longitude and 42°06′~42°48′ north latitude. The administrative area is 3,094.4 square kilometers. As of October 2021, Jingyu County has 7 towns and 1 township under its jurisdiction. The county people's government is located in Jingyu Town. As of the end of 2019, the registered population of Jingyu County was 133,823.
Jingyu County was formerly known as Munjiang County. In the thirty-fifth year of the Republic of China (1946), it was renamed Jingyu County in honor of the martyrdom of Yang Jingyu, commander-in-chief of the Northeast Democratic Anti-Japanese Allied Forces and national hero. In April 1994, Hunjiang City was renamed Baishan City, and Jingyu County belonged to Baishan City. Jingyu County was selected as one of the top 100 counties and cities for summer leisure in China in 2020, the second list of counties in the area of revolutionary cultural relics protection and utilization area", and the title of ecological counties (cities and districts) in Jilin Province".
