The Jilin High-Tech Industrial Development Zone is located in Jilin City, Jilin Province. Established in November 1992 with the approval of the State Council, it comprises the Jiangnan New Construction Zone (12.08 square kilometers) and the Jiangbei Fine Chemicals Pilot Zone (3 square kilometers). After more than a decade of development, the Jilin High-Tech Industrial Development Zone has evolved into a new science and technology district characterized by rational planning, well-developed infrastructure, a thriving high-tech industry, and orderly social management.Recognized by the Ministry of Science and Technology as a National Advanced High-Tech Zone and an Advanced Unit in the Implementation of the Torch Program, it is hailed as the “Pearl of Northeast China” on the banks of the Songhua River.
With abundant hydropower resources, convenient transportation, a strong pool of talent, a large workforce, comprehensive infrastructure, and a developed service sector, the zone has established an economic framework centered on five major industrial parks: automotive and auto parts, biomedicine, electronic information, new materials, and fine chemicals.Leveraging the National Power Electronics Industrial Base and the Entrepreneurship Center Incubation Base, a number of high-tech projects—including solar photovoltaic cells and Philips Semiconductors—are demonstrating the area’s economic strength, entrepreneurial vitality, and development potential.Located within the High-Tech Zone, the Jilin City Automobile Industrial Park—centered on FAW Jilin Automobile Co., Ltd. and its joint venture with Japan’s Toyota Daihatsu to produce the D82A model—is a micro-vehicle manufacturing base that is gradually moving toward internationalization, privatization, and diversification. It stands as Jilin City’s most dynamic new economic growth engine.
